Meet Afiong Williams, the first Nigerian to receive the Bold Woman award

Affiong Williams

If you are a Fintech enthusiast, you probably know Affiong Williams as the Tech-Agripreneur who raised $3m in a Series A funding round. She just became the first Nigerian recipient of the Bold Woman award!

The Bold Award by Veuve Clicquot- a 250-year-old champagne house- recognizes fearless female business leaders while also challenging the status quo by advocating for higher ethical standards and transformational practices.

It is the first and longest-running international award of its kind, celebrating its 50th year and launching in Nigeria in 2022.

Affiong Williams is the founder and CEO of Reel Fruit, a Nigerian company that specializes in the processing and distribution of locally grown fruits.

One of the requirements of a Bold Award recipient is the demonstration of transformational and evolutionary traits in business and Affiong has shown that through and through.

She has also shown hard grit and risk-taking qualities, both traits of a strong and innovative leader. After leaving her comfortable job in South Africa, it took five years to build her first factory and nine years to make a successful funding round.

She now joins a distinguished list of 410 courageous women honored by this prestigious award in 27 countries worldwide.
