Hello Adedamola!, It’s great to have you on LLA, Can you briefly describe yourself and your business?

My name is Adedamola Ladejobi,a certified personal nutritionist and weight loss expert. I have a law degree from the University of Exeter and BL from Nigerian Law School. I am married and blessed with two amazing children. I used to be overweight but I have been able to lose 40kg so far and have maintained it for over 5 years.

You are a Barrister and Solicitor of the Nigerian Supreme Court with an LLB Law degree, a BL from the Nigerian Law School and a Diploma certificate in Nutrition, Wow! this is diverse. Can you share what inspired you to go into weight loss, Health and wellness management?

I had severe GERD (Gastro oesophageal Reflux Disease) and my size affected my health and passion for fashion. Following 3 endoscopies, doctors advised me to lose weight as they could not figure out the cause of my ailment. After several unsuccessful attempts at weight loss through fad diets, I did a lot of research which opened my eyes to the potency of healthy eating. I began practicing this and portion control, and I was able to lose 40kg. Now that I’ve lost weight I’m able to fit into dresses I couldn’t fit into before.

When you launched your business, did you have prior knowledge on how you could run one? How did you make it work?

I started my business with just one laptop and only me, I stayed on it for a while but through research and research, I tried to make the business work. I’m passionate about helping people live healthy and I tried to be consistent, taking one step at a time and improving day after day.

Let’s talk about your wellness institute-can you tell us all about it, why you’ve decided to open and what you hope to achieve with it?

True leaders don’t create more followers, they create more leaders. This is what AskDamz Wellness Institute is all about. To educate people on weight management, health, nutrition, diseases and wellness and people can take these courses from the comfort of their rooms and get certified.

People will learn everything they need to know about their health, diet and every thing that pertains to healthy lifestyle.

Youre about to launch a fitness app, this is hugely innovative!  Tell us all about it and also what impact you hope to achieve with it?

The wellness institute and the App are kind of intertwined, the wellness institute is a learning school but comes under the App. Askdamz Wellness App is nothing like anyone has seen before. It’s not just for health enthusiast but for everyone, it has amazing features which would help people track certain parts of their lifestyle, help count their steps, know how many calories they are eating, track the number of hours they are sleeping and lots more.

As an entrepreneur, you must have encountered different kinds of people- what’s the greatest thing you have learned and what will you say has been the highlight of your journey so far?

I have discovered that we are all different and unique in our own way. What works for one might not work for the other person. It’s never a one size fits all approach. The highlight of my journey so far is watching people’s life change as a result of weight loss, knowing that they are living a better life, living healthier, and having a better self esteem etc.

It’s no news that you are one very successful entrepreneur. What will you say is responsible for your success?

God! God!! and God!! and an intense passion to help people be the best version of themselves.

What are some of the challenges youve faced on your journey, and whats kept you going?

Challenges that comes with the kind of job I do is when clients complain they are not losing weight and we have to go back to the drawing board and then discover that they had not adhered completely to my rules and guidelines because we generally depend on just the scale although there are other methods of tracking progress asides from the scale.
