We heard someone say, “Magic is not what we feel, it’s who we are!” And we can’t agree less as the amazing Mobolaji Akiode teaches us what it means to be wonder woman in a basketball jersey.
The amazing 32 year young woman has an unending list of amazing life achievements which include;
A trip to Athens, Greece with Nigeria‘s national women’s basketball team, where the team competed in the Summer Olympic games. Earning a tryout with the WNBA’s Detroit Shock out of college and being one of the first women to be honored by espnW and Toyota’s Everyday People program. But perhaps her greatest achievement to date is the launch of Hope4Girls Africa (H4G), a basketball initiative for African girls aged 12-18. Through her work with H4G, Mobolaji provides mentorship, learning workshops and athletic training to girls in Nigeria and the US, where she currently lives.
In a recent interview with Africa.com, she said ‘’true leaders are able to empower others to be better than what they thought they could be and to see in them what they never saw in themselves.’’
We totally agree with you Mobolaji and we love how you’re empowering our young women and showing them how magical they are. Not all heroes wear capes and Mobolaji Akiode is our favorite Shero!
