Meet the founders of global African brand, Cee Cee’s Closet

Cee Cee’s Closet NYC was created by Chioma and Uchenna Ngwudo in New York City. The brand celebrates the beauty of West African prints and designs through unique accessories. The accessories are designed by the founders and handmade by artisans in Nigeria. Having their accessories made in Nigeria allows Cee Cee’s Closet NYC to have a trans-formative impact on the lives of their local artisan partners.

Chioma and Uchenna started their company in 2015 and have been on the rise ever since. Known for their head wraps and bags.

CeeCee’s closet actually started out as “Chioma’s closet”, shortly after the death of their paternal grandfather in 2015, Chioma traveled to Nigeria for the funeral and on her return, brought along with her a few gift items for he sister which included several Ankara print clutches, which she got a lot of compliments for. so she decided she would sell some.

She went ahead to purchase more of the purses through her aunt who resides in Nigeria. Uchenna however, came up with the concept of having an e-commerce store and once they were dedicated to doing that, they reconsidered their business name and came up with Cee Cee’s Closet.

The duo started their business with $300 and invested a percentage from their paychecks every two weeks to fund the business. they started out with a staffing of three (both of them inclusive) and they have recorded consistent growth since then, adding to the team, an operations assistant, additional contractors and a team in Nigeria that sources for fabrics.
