The Television Academy has nominated a record number of Actors for the Emmys, 34.3% of the list of nominees released on Tuesday morning are Blacks ??

There are 102 acting nominees this year across various categories. Thirty-five of those are Black Actors, notable of whom are:

Zendaya, nominated for ‘Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series’ for her performance in the Series ‘Euphoria’;
Issa Rae, who received a nomination for ‘Best Actress in a Comedy’;
Yvonne Orji nominated for ‘Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy’; and
Uzo Aduba, nominated for ‘Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Movie or Series’ for her radical political role in ‘Mrs. America’

Wanda Sykes, Tracee Ellis Ross, Zendaya, Thandie Newton, Samira Wiley, Laverne Cox, Octavia Spencer, Kerry Washington, Angela Bassett etc.

Orji’s show ‘Momma I Made it’ has her followers glued to the screen as she boldly and comically documents going back to her roots in Nigeria, showing the nuances of Africa.

Fellow Nigerian, Aduba’s role in Mrs. America is of the Black feminist who ran for political office in the 1970s and was seemingly erased from the history pages. Aduba remarked that filling in the ‘blindspots’ of history motivated her stellar performance.

This year Emmy takes place on September 20th, with popular late night television host, Jimmy Kimmel set to host the live ceremony.

Congratulations Ladies, rooting for you ??
