At 21, OAP and Media Personality— Simi Drey is the Youngest African to Win The Future Awards

Born and bred in London but a Nigerian girl at heart, Simi Drey is a First Class Degree Holder in Broadcasting, Journalism and Media Communications.⁣

She is an award winning Broadcaster who has worked in television and radio stations across the UK and Nigeria and has interviewed a vast array of celebrities including Femi Kuti, Jidenna and Ramsey Nouah.⁣

Currently, Simi Drey hosts the Saturday Afternoon Show and the Sunday Afternoon Show between 12pm-6pm on The Beat 99.9FM. ⁣

She won Trek African Woman of the Year Award in 2015 and The Future Africa Awards 2019 for Media Personality of the year. At 21, she is the youngest African to win the Future Awards.⁣

Commenting on the recent win, she said: “It’s still surreal that I am the winner of the The Future Awards Africa for OAP (TV and Radio).

“This is an award I have always wanted to win and I remeber thinking two years ago that I was not good enough, that I did not do enough. After all, who am I? Just an ordinary girl trying to figure out her path in this world.

“I want to tell everyone out there that fulfilling your dreams is not impossible. It may take time, it will take a lot of work but you can do it if you just keep pushing. I have had many many many many rejections but they did not define me.

“So proudly, I can say with my shoulders (and a swollen head ?) that I am Simi Audrey Adejumo. A Future Award Winner 2019.”

Congratulations Simi!
