Since our first glimpse of her as Keesha in 7th Heaven she’s evolved into a household name. She’s poised, talented, and has definitely sipped from the fountain of youth that we’ve been searching for. These are a few reasons why we love Gabrielle Union.
She knows how to turn tragedy to triumph.
She has faced heart breaking struggles, but she’s come out more graceful than ever. In her book ‘’We’re Gonna Need More Wine’’ she speaks about how she endured three years of failed IVF cycles and how she has had about 8 or 9 miscarriages. She uses this medium to encourage other women who are going through similar or worse challenges.
She is definitely ageing backwards.
It’s definitely no secret that she has sipped from the fountain of youth, she just turned 45 years old and she barely looks a day over 20. Talk about black don’t crack! *FYI in the high school role movies; Bring it On and Love and Basketball, she was 28 years old.
She isn’t afraid to publicly show her love and support for women
She recently showed her support to Dallas news anchor who was body shamed online, calling her the real life Mary Jane! She even went on to send her a bunch of pieces from her New York and Company collections, telling her that she looked amazing and she slays everything she wears. Talk about a 21st century fairy god mother.
She isn’t ashamed to admit her flaws
Earlier this year, the actress was awarded the fierce and fearless award during the Essence’s Black Woman in Hollywood luncheon. Gab’s acceptance speech drove many to tears as she revealed her past insecurities and finished with the need for unity among black actresses. “I was a victim masquerading as a survivor—I used to revel in gossip and rumors, and lived for the negativity inflicted upon my sister actresses or anyone who I felt whose shine diminished my own.” Our level of respect for her ignited after that soul baring speech.
Her role as Mary Jane Paul in the series ‘’Being Mary Jane’’ inspires us so much. And just like Gabby, Mary Jane Paul is a go-getter, who never takes No for an answer. These are definitely Lady Boss characteristics that we all need to emulate.
She has a great sense of humor
She has no problem at all laughing at herself or acting in comedic movies. She proves this in her web series, Riding Dirty with Officer Turner, where she reminded us that she is comfortable with making fun of her crazy antics.
Gabrielle Union is multitalented
Gabrielle Union is an Actress, Athlete, an Advocate for various causes, especially women’s right. She is now my favorite source of motivation so you can call her a Motivational Speaker. She is also a bestselling author with her just released book ‘’We’re Gonna Need More Wine’’ this book is a memoir and it talks about various parts of her life, ranging from Career, to divorce, her struggles with infertility, and low self esteem. Her book was releases in October 2017 and is available for purchase.
