From Lagos to New York, black women all over the world are inspiring us with their lives, and giving us motivation to live by. Here are 7 black women over 40 who we TOTALLY LIVE for:
MO Abudu (CEO/Founder Ebony Life TV)
The Founder/CEO of Ebony Life TV is a media and entertainment maven. Aunty Mo’ as she’s fondly called by those close to her is creating world class television content from Africa. Think Fifty, Think The Wedding Party, and think about all that incredible, indigenous content on EL TV. We absolutely love Mo Abudu and she always gives us something to look forward to. Talk about 1000 shades of amazing.
Suzanne Shank
This Leading Lady right here is our inspiration to keep working hard and smart to get that schmoney! She is a $2 trillion business woman, Cofounder and CEO Siebert Branford Shank, and she is the most successful black woman on Wall Street. If this woman right here isn’t giving you life right now, we need to do a manual reset for you.
Aishah Ahmad
This amazing woman is what dreams in the corporate world for women are made of. She’s theDeputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, with 20 years experience in the finance and banking sector. She is also the Chairperson of WIMBIZ (Women in Business and Public Service), and she’s totally #LeadingLady goals, all day and every day.
Taraji P. Henson
This fierce, unapologetic goal getter is a force to reckon with. She teaches us to never settle for second place. And she has shown us that we can have all we want. We just have to decide what we want. She is giving us life ladies! Don’t settle for being on the B-List, aim higher! Yass girl!
Sharon Weston Broome
She holds the record for the first black female mayor of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Before then, she was the first black woman to be in the state senate for 15years. We can bet that she is holding that office down! Definitely a breath of fresh air.
Michelle Obama
Apart from being the first Black American First Lady, Michelle Obama is a Lawyer, and a writer. She served as the third First Lady to hold a postgraduate degree alongside Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush. She always ensures that her legacy was authentic to her values and reflective of her upbringing. At the recent Obama Foundation Summit in Chicago, which held on the 1st and 2nd of November 2017, she urged women to raise men while nurturing them as the society has always pushed girls to be perfect while we nurture men and give them some sense of entitlement. She stands as an example and much needed affirmation that #BlackGirlsRock and anything is possible. Michelle Obama is a voice the world needs more of.
