The financial industry is a cut-throat one with only the best excelling and making a difference. Funmi Babington-Ashaye has truly proven her worth as one of the best in the financial sector with over 30 years of success and indeed excellence.
Beginning her career as an insurance superintendent in 1987, she rose through the ranks to become the first female Managing Director of Cornerstone Insurance Plc where she started as a pioneer staff. As the team lead of the company, she increased turnover by over 80% while also successfully re-captalising it.
She is a well versed underwriter with invaluable wealth of experience in the insurance industry. She was appointed the acting Managing Director of NICON Insurance Plc by the Federal Government of Nigeria to help work out some affairs between the insurance industry and the core investor.
Mrs Babigton- Ashaye has won several awards including JC’s Lepine Prize Awards by the Chartered Insurance Institute, London in 1990. She authored a book, Insurance in Practice: All You Need to Know About Insurance in Nigeria was recently launched. The Nigerian born insurance veteran later went on to establish her own company, Risk Analyst Insurance Brokers Limited. She is also the 48th President of the Chartered Insuranse Institute of Nigeria.
