Everybody loves cake or are we exaggerating?
We do not think so. However, do you know that although cake is very loved in Nigeria we do not have any made in Nigeria cake mixes?
Sifa Asani Gowon noticed this anomaly and got to work. She didn’t like that we had only imported brands like Duncan Hines, Betty Crocker, Aunt Jemima and even South African brand, Ina Paarman.
Sifa teamed up with her friend and economist, Tosin Olaseinde, to launch KoKo’s Kitchen and they created Nigeria’s first locally made dry cake and pancake mix.
The brand has a line of easy-to-bake cake mixes including red velvet, chocolate and vanilla that can be made by adding only eggs, oil and water. They are currently developing new products that will be available in the market soon.
According to them,
“The confectionery industry in Nigeria is rapidly growing and as such we aim for our products to bridge the gap between quality, inexpensive products and the Nigerian – and in time, African – consumer.”
We can’t wait to try out hands on the mix.
