Women We Love | TsiTsi Masiyiwa, Social Entrepreneur and Philanthropist
A philanthropist, social entrepreneur, and champion for gender equality. She is the co-founder and chair of the Higherlife Foundation, a social impact organization dedicated to supporting African nations through initiatives in education, health, food security, and disaster preparedness. These efforts aim to cultivate thriving individuals, sustainable livelihoods, and resilient communities.
With over two decades of transformative work through the Higherlife Foundation, Tsitsi has become a trusted advisor and thought leader for universities, national leaders, and social entrepreneurs on matters of education, leadership development, and youth empowerment.
She is a founding board member and the current Board Chair of the African Philanthropy Forum. She also serves as a Trustee of the Legatum Institute, the END Fund, and UNICEF’s Generation Unlimited Initiative.
Her extensive advisory roles include membership in the Sesame Workshop Global Advisory Group, the International Advisory Board for Texas A&M University, the Yale Institute for Global Health Advisory Board, the Africa University Board, the Prince’s Trust International West Africa Advisory Board, and the Kenjin-Tatsujin International Advisory Council.
In 2017, she founded Delta Philanthropies, a UK-registered charity and impact investor that supports human capital development in Africa through grant-making.
Her impactful work has earned her global recognition, including Honorary Doctorate degrees from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, and Africa University in Mutare, Zimbabwe. She has also received the prestigious Champions for Change Award for Leadership from the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW).
