Young African women have been doing us proud and one of the things we love about Africa is the amount of change and advancement that has come our way through our women.
Let us tell you why we are so proud of Maria Borges;
She is on the Forbes list of under 30 creatives. She was also named Forbes Africa Magazine’s top model of 2013. Maria is the first African woman of the century to be on the cover of Elle USA. She also became the first person to rock an Afro at Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
Maria has walked the runway for several top fashion designers, and she has graced the covers of many international fashion magazines. She is undoubtedly a trendsetter and here’s one of the many advice she has has for young women;
“You need to make peace with yourself, loving your body, loving your features and your skin, accepting who you are and what you are.”
She also mentions that one of the best advice she’s ever gotten is from the great Edward Enninful – director of W Fashion, who told her that, “No matter where you go, you should never lose your essence.”
