Thokoza Mjo is actively improving the economic situation in South Africa by encouraging teenage-led enterprises and making sure they bloom.
This graduate of finance had her first shot at entrepreneurship back then in high school, where she sold sweets to her peers. Perhaps, this was where she got the inspiration to encourage other teenage-led businesses.
The company was birthed out of her deep passion to create economic opportunities for South Africa’s teenagers.
Like every other entrepreneur, she derives pleasure in knowing that her platform, Beyond the Lemonade Stand, creates opportunities for teen-led enterprises to deliver products/services for their clients, to procure resources from suppliers for their enterprises at a discounted rate, and realize their dreams to interact with established entrepreneurs that they have admired from a distance.
Her advice to other female entrepreneurs is this, “Starting a business, for me, is the best expression of backing yourself (taking a chance on you), believing that you have the ability to create value for yourself and for others. Don’t put it off any longer, there’s no better time than now.”
We believe this is a noble cause geared towards the development of young people in South Africa. Well done Thokoza Mjo!
