Favor Nwobodo is a polyglot that speaks nine foreign languages, Korean, Swahili, Shona, Indonesian, Filipino, Spanish, German, French, and Chinese. She also speaks English and Igbo and is currently learning Yoruba.
Favour’s passion for learning foreign languages started when she watched a Korean drama with a neighbour. She describes it as a ‘dam opening’ that pushed her to learn the Korean language.
She then went ahead to learn other foreign languages like Swahili, Filipino, Shona, and the rest. She describes learning languages as a way to experience these countries’ ways of life.
She is the founder of Empress Linguistics Services (ELS), a linguistic service that eliminates the language barrier in international business.
According to Favour, she started ELS because of her zeal to provide real solutions to real problems. Initially, a Translation and Language Education company, ELS evolved because Favour noticed a strong need for international trade in Nigeria and realized that language could prove a barrier. She started helping business owners breach that barrier when having international conversations with her translation services.
As a health professional, she hopes to use her linguistic services to significantly reduce the number of people that die in hospitals due to the language barrier.
She is also the founder of the NGO, Save African Children, an NGO focused on helping underprivileged children live better lives.
