Gbagyichild Entertainment Founder, Lydia Idakula-Sobogun pens a moving poem on her birthday, and we are totally inspired by it

This is for the woman I was
Daddy’s little girl who wished on Stars & Unicorns
Who hated Institutions & failed at maths
Who loved words. Written, unwritten, spoken, unspoken
Who dreamed of love & lived within music notes
Who danced with abandon and bathed in the rain
Who grew up – aged – one night in November
18 to 30 in 24 hours
Spurred by heart breaks shaped by pain
Wisened by grief, healed by a desire to change the world

This is for the woman
Who was not afraid to cry
Who loved with the intensity of crashing waves

This is for the woman I am
Resilient, relentless, unstoppable, dogged
Impatient, stubborn, jagged, flawed – (very)
Who dares to wear her heart on her sleeves
Who sometimes feels she does too much
And somehow still feels she does too little
Whose personality is a walking oxymoron
With a fierce need for privacy
And a deep desire to embrace the world
The one who lives, for one amazing conversation

This is for the woman
Who is not afraid to cry
Who loves with the intensity of crashing waves

This is for the woman I will be
Fearless, Intentional, Brave, Unstoppable
Impatient, Stubborn, Jagged, Flawed
Defined by family, friendships, love & purpose
Who will always do too much
And still feel like she does too little
Who will dream dreams and build empires
Who will try, to embrace the world (& possibly fail)
Who will always love words. Written, unwritten, spoken, unspoken
Who will always need one amazing conversation

This is for the woman
Who will never be afraid to cry
Who will always love with the intensity of crashing waves
