Can you tell us about your current charity project in Port Harcourt? What inspired you to initiate this project, and what are its primary objectives?
My late grandmother Mrs Charity Okachi inspired me. That’s why the name is “For Charity Okachi” and it is so emotional to me because my grandma raised me. We started our first project with Sangana high school where my grandmother taught for over 30+ years and proceeded to more schools in Port Harcourt.
So far we have provided school uniforms and shoes for 156 students, paid examination and Inter-House sports fees for 32 students, gave 5 volunteer teachers to the school, provided JAMB forms for students, renovated and re-designed some classrooms, and sponsored 2024 Inter-House Sports for a school.
Sounds Exciting! As you prepare to launch your foundation, what specific areas or causes do you aim to address? How do you envision your foundation making a positive impact in Nigeria and beyond?
For Charity Okachi is focused on education in public schools across Nigeria. Education means so much to me because not everyone can afford to get and stay educated.
For Charity Okachi is focused on working to improve and make education attainable for the less privileged in our society. We will advocate for change in education policy and practices across the country. For Charity Okachi strives to be a shining light of hope for those in need by providing educational opportunities to empower and uplift the less privileged.
As a multi-talented individual involved in modelling, design, and entrepreneurship, how do you balance your various pursuits with your philanthropic endeavours?
Prioritization and time management is very key. So I allocate dedicated time slots for each pursuit while ensuring that giving back remains one central focus of my endeavors. I also delegate roles to my team members so that way we are all productive.
In all of these, as a mum I also don’t forget to put my son first at all times.
What challenges have you encountered while working on your charity project and establishing your foundation, and how have you overcome them?
Currently we haven’t faced any challenges yet since we are just starting, but I know that there are no successful organizations that do not face challenges so we are putting in certain measures to ensure that when challenges occur myself and my team will be prepared to overcome them. For now, For Charity Okachi is self-funded and I’d be doing my best.
What motivated you to establish the Faith Morey Collection? Can you describe the ethos and vision behind the clothing line?
Faith Morey Collection was started because I wanted to make clothes that are distinct, stylish and affordable. The collection is based on the idea that everyone should feel beautiful and confident in their own skin, no matter what they look like. The clothes are designed to make people feel comfortable, look good and fashionable, without breaking the bank. I want everyone to be able to express themselves through their clothing, their style, without feeling limited by their size or budget.
In what ways do you hope your foundation will contribute to the community in Port Harcourt and Nigeria as a whole? Are there any specific programs or initiatives you’re particularly excited about?
I know that our foundation has a lot to do, but we will consistently take it a step at a time. Every drop matters. We are currently working on other major projects for more schools in Port Harcourt that I’m excited about and I can’t wait to see the impacts they will create.
I am also particularly excited for the Sangana project because it was where my grandma spent most of her life.
What advice would you give to aspiring individuals who want to make a difference through charitable work and philanthropy, especially within the Nigerian context?
They should just start, no matter how little. The world needs all the help it can get, so they should identify what they are passionate about and take it up through charity. It could be anything; education, healthcare, poverty alleviation, women empowerment, environmental sustainability or any where they feel a strong desire to make a positive impact.
Being a lifestyle influencer, how do you ensure authenticity and sincerity in your brand partnerships and content creation?
As a lifestyle influencer, I always make sure that my brand partnerships are aligned with my values. I only partner with brands that I genuinely believe in, that i can stand behind 100%. and I always try to create content that is genuine and authentic, so my audience can trust that I’m being honest and transparent with them. Ultimately, I want my followers to feel like they can relate to me and my content, so I make sure to create content that feels personal and true.
What advice would you give to aspiring models and entrepreneurs, particularly those who are looking to break into the fashion industry.
If you’re an aspiring model or entrepreneur looking to break into the fashion industry, my advice would be to be confident in your own unique style. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to success, so don’t try to fit into a mold. Focus on developing your own personal brand, and market yourself based on your own individual strengths and personality. Be persistent, and don’t give up even when things get tough. Most importantly, don’t forget to enjoy the journey and have fun along the way.
How do you stay motivated and continue to innovate in an industry that’s constantly evolving? Can you share any upcoming projects or goals you’re excited about?
One of the best ways to stay motivated and innovative in the fashion industry is to stay open-minded and always be learning. This industry is constantly changing, so it’s important to be flexible and adaptable. I like to stay motivated by setting clear goals and tracking my progress. I always have a list of goals for myself, both short-term and long-term. As for upcoming projects, I’m currently working on major projects for my charity organization and I’m super pumped about collaborating with some amazing brands. Can’t wait to share more details soon.
