Yimika Adesola is a young woman who is not content with having a thriving career in the Legal field alone; she has a burning desire to help other young lawyers to find their place in the industry. She created the social enterprise, Legally Engaged, to achieve this goal.
In her own words, “Legally Engaged provides insight into the practice of law in Nigeria and ancillary issues. We provide information on issues such as possible practice areas and career paths, further education,day-to-day tasks of lawyers in different fields, as well as interviews and weekly articles on topical issues affecting (aspiring) lawyers.
We pride ourselves in the fact that the information we provide is easy to understand and relate to; we remove all the fluff and jargon that can be characteristic of the legal profession.
An increasingly popular aspect of the Legally Engaged initiative is the Legally Engaged Mentorship Programme. Under the programme, we pair law students and young lawyers with more experienced lawyers who provide them with guidance on a one-on-one basis. We believe that the journey into the profession is a smoother one with the insight of someone who has already travelled the road.
Our overall mission is to demystify the legal profession in Nigeria with a view to priming better informed lawyers who are able to exploit their potential at an early stage.”
