Upendo Shuma means business with Lavie makeup studio and she has proved it

Upendo-Shuma

From spending her days off learning how to do makeup while working as a cabin crew at Fasjet, Shuma has built a name for herself in the beauty industry in Tanzania.

After learning on the cabin, she would make up her friends and family for a fee. After a while, she started her business, Lavie Makeup Studio, opened a small store and employed one staff. It didn’t take long before the store grew from employing just one person to seven people.

Now Lavie Makeup Studio has up 40 to 60 brides per month during peak season and 20 to 30 brides when business is slow. Apart from bridal makeup, her studio does regular makeovers and fixes lashes and celebrity makeup.

Shuma took it a step further by developing her first line of products which have sold 3,000 pieces since inception in 2015.
