Josephine Ngminvielu Kuuire is a Ghanaian photographer, digital artist and graphic designer. She is the C.E.O of Mumble Photography.

She is inspired by her everyday experiences and the different challenges that come with existing as a woman who is ‘different’. She uses her photography in search of her freedom, hoping to inspire others to search for theirs and also to interrogate established social systems within the Ghanaian context.
She was awarded the Portraits Ghana Photography Prize in 2017 which was organized by the Embassy of Netherlands in Ghana and Nuku Studio. In 2018, her work was shortlisted as one of the top ten finalists in Ghana for the Kuenyehia Art Prize for Contemporary Ghanaian Arts. Some of the themes in her work include Architecture, Built Environment, Structure, and the role of women in historical and contemporary political structures.
The redecorating of concrete walls in some parts of Accra is an initiative under Ghana’s Creative Arts Council’s ‘Arts For All: Phase II’. The initiative is helping redesign concrete walls on the streets of Accra with giant murals.

Josephine Kuuire co-created and digitally designed the painting on the walls around the Tetteh Qurashie Interchange with other talented and creative individuals. According to Josephine Kuuire, this painting is very special because it celebrates some of the women who have contributed immensely to the history of Ghana.

In a tweet, the Creative Arts Council said “Art representing the legacies of some of the most influential and remarkable female figures during and after the independence era.”
