Blondie Okpuzor was getting allergic to almost everything food, body products and even water so she started making her body butters and hair conditioners.
After taking a class on soap making she fell in love with the process and decided to make soaps but with a little ‘Blondie’ effect. Blondie loves deserts, sweets and chocolates so she decided to incorporate them into her products.
“I figured that if I make everyday essentials look and smell appealing, then I would basically make bath time feel like a treat,” Blondie says about her journey into soap production.
She started BathKandy, a food inspired range of bath and body products, beautifully handcrafted with natural ingredients sourced within Africa and beyond. The products are made to look and smell like desserts, incorporating gourmet food and drink items for a lusciously indulgent bath-time experience.
Blondie believes that there is nothing better than coming into a beautifully scented home from a long day at work, away from the frustrations of Lagos and traffic, taking a nice, long relaxing bath to unwind and her products make you feel and smell pretty!
Apart from smelling nice, her products help solve a range of skin issues such as acne, blemishes, discoloration, dry/cracked skin, anti-aging etc. For instance BathKandy’s Black Pepper & Turmeric Soap targets acne and discoloration.
Her advice to other entrepreneurs is to keep re-inventing. She believes this will always give customers something to look forward to.
We can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
