The Africa the Western world knows is a continent with bright colours and bold prints. Although this is good and true, Mimi, CEO of Miminat Designs, decided to reintroduce Africa to the world through furniture and her brand.
“When Europeans think of African art or anything African, they think of vibrant colours and heavy patterns, which I think is great. However, I wanted to strip all of that away and also show that we can do minimal and contemporary but still show influences from our culture also.”
This strong desire birthed Miminat Designs, an Interior Architecture and Furniture Studio that consistently pushes the boundaries of creativity and questions the status quo with innovative yet contemporary designs.
The brand launched in 2015 but already makes furniture for commercial and residential projects worldwide.
We love the fact that although her company is already doing well, Mimi’s desire to keep creating fresh and innovative content that strikes a chord with her buyers remains intact.
