Women are taking over the tech world and we’re loving it. Meet Hilda Moraa. Hilda is one of the founders of Weza Tele Limited, a leading provider in variety of value added mobility solutions in commerce, supply chain, distribution and mobile payment integration
Weza Tele was born out of a school project that Hilda had worked on. Not only did the prototype score an A, it also won the top prize at the 2011 Mobile BootCamp. Hilda however had to pay a heavy price for the success of the company. Although she started her Master’s Degree program, she was unable to finish it because she had to focus on her business, a secret her parents didn’t not know about until recently.
Despite not being able to complete her Masters, Hilda has achieved outstanding success. Aside from Weza Tele, she also founded AfriHive; a content hub and one stop shop for co-working spaces across Africa to access useful resources, services and lesson as to remain sustainable in the long run. Hilda also started running a peer mentorship series with iBizAfrica in April 2016 where she shares her experiences, lessons and supports other young entrepreneurs.
In 2016, Forbes Africa mentioned her as one of Kenya’s 30 most promising Young African Entrepreneurs. Hilda is definitely a problem solver and achiever extraordinaire who believes now is an incredible time for young people to shine and do amazing things to impact our society.
Hilda’s charge to young start ups is to believe strongly in themselves and never give up.
