After struggling to find quality Afro-Caribbean hair and beauty specialists for such a long time, Princess Onitilo fueled her frustrations into teaching herself how to do her own hair . It wasn’t long before she realized that there was a gap in The Afro-Caribbean hair & beauty community
This marked the starting point of Tress Free. Princess was interested in the creativity, new techniques and styles that the hair and beauty industry continued to churn out but she couldn’t trust hairdressers without a portfolio. She wanted a central hub where customers could compare and contrast different stylists easily.
Tress Free is an innovative hair and beauty website that relieves customers by allowing them to state what exactly they want, whether it is a beauty, hair or nail treatment, according to their location and date. The website makes it easy to book beauty appointments and find stylists.
This innovation is the first of its kind in the UK and Princess’ parents had a huge role to play in this success story. She had this to say about them; “From a young age my parents, always told me that I can do anything I set my heart on, and this is something that I have applied in all aspects of my life. I don’t feel constrained by the double jeopardy theories of being black and female. I believe that success is inevitable when passion meets hard work and determination.”
