Born into poverty, bred in adversity. Such was the case of this young achiever who, despite all odds, was determined to be outstanding. Naisula Lesuuda was born in the humble town of Samburu, Kenya. A superficial prognosis of her future would have been bleak, unexceptional and uninspiring. On the contrary, those words couldn’t be farther from reality.

After leaving her hometown to the city of Nairobi, Lesuuda worked her way to the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) as programme host of Good Morning Kenya as later as a reporter and newscaster with her degree in Communications and Community Development from the Catholic University.

Following a gruesome killing of many people from her town after a cattle rustling she ventured into bringing peace to troubled areas and rescuing young girls from female genital mutilation. She quit her regular job setting up the Naisula Lesuuda Peace Foundation which advocates and supports the education of girls, while creating awareness of the dangers of female genital mutilation and child marriage. She is a defender of human rights and the rights of the girl child. Naisula also founded the Peace Caravan bringing professionals from all over the country together. She is a member of many foundations fighting for different causes dear to her heart.

In 2013, she was nominated as a member of the Kenyan Senate and became the youngest serving member of the Senate. Naisula Lesuuda is truly one to watch out for.
