The About That Curvy Life Collective showcase at The 2017 Heineken Lagos Fashion & design week was a show stopping, curvy pink power movement and sensual macho explosion. As always, the ATCL Collective show did not fail to exceed crowd expectations as the models swayed and strutted on the runway delivering class, style and so much positive vibes with the crowd cheering in approved appreciation.

The showcase had the best curvy models ever! We saw amazing people like Toolz, Style Infidel, Miss Curvy Lala, Yoko Nwugbe and Chef Benedict take the runway with mind blowing struts. Our jaws were literally dropped all through the showcase with unlimited numbers of wows. Trust me it was that good. And oh that amazing opening by project fame’s Isaac Gerald singing Beautiful by Christina Aguilera. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!

Besides the boss lady looks and perfect struts, I learnt a few things from that showcase:

  • Confidence is KEY, no matter what size you are.
  • Body positivity is the order of the day, and ATCL is giving the curvy girl that push to accept her body the way it is.
  • Being curvy is nothing to be depressed about, celebrate it!
  • Real beauty comes from the inside, not the other way around
  • There is more than one way to rock clothes – and we saw a perfect example of that on the runway.

Kudos to Latasha Ngwube and her team for making us love and appreciate those curves.

Another glorious moment was when media personality, Tolu Oniru-Demuren
(Toolz), strutted down the runway, flaunting her beautiful curves in an
outfit by Osuare. Also, South African plus-size model and body positivity
activist Lala Tshabalala, smouldered in a black laceup dress by Nori’s
Clothings.Yet another notable highlight of the show was seeing the beautiful models
incorporate elements of pink in their individual looks, in honour of
Breast Cancer Awareness month. Each donned either a thick pink braid or a
pink wig and they looked totally fabulous.Presenting a properly thought-out collection was of utmost importance to
the creator of #AboutthatcurvylifeCollective, Latasha Ngwube.Speaking on the success of the ATCL Showcase, Ngwube notes that she is
thankful to Intel for returning yet again this year to support ATCL at
what is undoubtedly one of the foremost Fashion Week events in Africa. She
also thanks Heineken LFDW for the opportunity to include diversity in this
year’s showcase once again.
