What started as a dream in the university is now a thriving business

Mmachukwu Omonode is a not an entrepreneur by mistake. She had the idea to set up her business since she was in the university and did all she could to build a solid foundation for it. She wanted to start a health promotion company and knew she had to study medical science to do this.

Today, Mmachukwu is the CEO of Mahauty Health Solutions a social enterprise that advocates for the health of infants, young children, pregnant women, nursing mothers and girls of reproductive ages in Africa.

In a bid to feed her daughter with natural cereals, the company’s first product, Somma’s Yummies, was born. It is a high-energy nutritious baby food, manufactured and packaged from local Nigerian staples – whole grains, nuts, fruits, vegetables, roots, tubers, and legumes.

It didn’t take long before her product advertised itself. Everyone wanted to know what she was feeding her daughter and mothers started requesting for it. Mmachukwu says she hasn’t spent so much money on marketing because their results are enough proof to clients! Amazing.

Her advice to young entrepreneurs? “You don’t have to have all the capital in the world before starting out.” We totally agree.
