Meet LadyBoss Barbara Okereke; CEO Oven Secret

Who would have thought being a cake artisan would earn you a spot on Forbes #30under30 list? Well, Barbara Okereke has set an example for us all and yes, she is goals!

When Barbara became a cake designer, she never thought it was something she was going to do for the ‘rest of her life’. Barbara studied electrical and electronics engineering and has a Masters degree in oil and gas management, what she wanted was to get a job and climb up the corporate ladder, but all her efforts to obtain one were abortive.

In an interview with BBC, Barbara said:

“I applied for jobs and put my CV out there but still. So at a point, I just focused on baking cakes,” she says. “I bake about nine to ten cakes a week.  I’d rather bake cakes and improve every day and grow my business. It is better for everybody to learn that one skill on the side just in case your plan A doesn’t work.”

3 years later, Barbara has gained the attention of the world from baking and designing cakes. Recently she was listed under Forbes 30 under 30 2019 list, alongside other entrepreneurs.

We love Barbara Okereke and of course, she is our leading lady for today.
