Six years ago Lizl couldn’t afford to buy furniture in her home so she started to scout for budget material and quickly realized that most people discard usable materials. She used these materials to design beautiful furniture that she used in her home. This was the beginning of her company Lily Loompa.

Lizl Naude is a self taught designer. She recently launched her new ‘Rubbish Range’ of furniture made with discarded waste material.

One of the creations from the Rubbish range is the ‘Tin Can Lamp’ which was made from an unused library book end from a local primary school and was transformed using a lamp base which was also previously discarded.

Lizl prides herself in that fact that she can tell the stories of South Africa in a tangible way.

“We center on telling a story through each piece of furniture we design and craft.”
