We love it when women shatter glass ceilings and Mrs Aishah Ahmad is doing that effortlessly in the finance industry. Currently the Chairperson of WIMBIZ and Executive Director (Retail Banking) at Diamond Bank Plc, Mrs Ahmad has been appointed to become the next Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. Her appointment is expected to fill the void created by the exit of the former deputy governor in charge of Economic Policy, Sarah Alade, who retired from the Central Bank in March 2017 as the only woman in the top hierarchy of the apex bank.

With over 20 years experience in the field, Mrs Ahmad has worked as a banking executive and an investment adviser across retail banking, wealth management, consulting and financial advisory. She is currently responsible for the consumer banking division at Diamond Bank Plc which comprises of consumer banking group, privilege banking group, retail assets group and bancassurance.

Mrs Ahmad is a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Associations – globally recognised programmes for investment analysts and portfolio managers.

She holds an MSc in finance and management from the Cranfield School of Management in the UK, an MBA with a specialisation in finance from the University of Lagos and a graduate degree in accounting from the University of Abuja.

We’re totally inspired by her!
