We can’t think of a much better word to describe this phenomenal human rights activist. Through her Non-Governmental Organisation, KIND, Hafsat has inspired hope and leadership in a huge number of women.  We love how she has built a legacy of her own, even while promoting that of her late parents. Today, we take a walk through 5 of her most beautiful words.

On Nigeria

“I do not know any place to me that is as special and beautiful as this place, even with the problems. It’s like the problems are just dust and mud on perfection, that if we could just wash it off, everybody could see” – [bellanaija.com]

On culture

“I want Nigerian women to realize that our function as women is not only to transmit culture to children, but to shape culture as a change agent” [talke.ng]

On societal hindrances

“NO is just the beginning of the exploration. It cannot be your limit. You will define your own limit and chart your own way. You must chart your own way.” – [bellanaija.com]

On capacity building

“It is easy to be overwhelmed with what is already in front of us. Yet, I learned from watching my father that the more we take on, the greater our capacity becomes.  Small will only ever remain small, and large-heartedness opens the way to greatness.” – [saharareporters.com]

On women

“There is something that women bring to the table that, if you do not have them at the table, you won’t get this critical element. And you can’t have them at the table as a token’s, you have to have them as a critical mass. That is when they change the conversation” – [bellanaija.com]
